One of the things I immediately wanted to change when I joined Comics Bulletin was our design aesthetic. That meant the website on the whole, but I also wanted our logos to have more character and impact. I’m not really a graphic designer, but having no budget meant I couldn’t hire anybody to take on our logos, so I’ve pretty much learned as I’ve grown with the job and even though I would like more time to focus on design, I think that for the most part the column logos I’ve done up have made us stand out, particularly since I hate the obviously “comic book-y” look so many of our peers use; I mean, people get that we cover comics, do we really need to put word balloons and goofy lettering everywhere to drive that point home even more? Anyway, these are some of my favorite logos I’ve done for the site.
